Become a Young Supporter!

Young Epilepsy are looking for 13 – 25-year-olds with epilepsy to join the Young Supporter team!

Who are the Young Supporters?

Our vision at Young Epilepsy is to create a society where children and young people with epilepsy are enabled to fulfil their potential, their voices are respected, and their ambitions realised. Our Youth Voice Network helps us do just that!

The Young Supporters are a group made up of over 50 young people with epilepsy who help our organisation ensure that young people are at the center of everything we do. The Young Supporter community help shape the direction of the charity and ensure that Young Epilepsy understand the experiences of young people and work to support them as well as campaigning for wider change. Children and young people are at the center of everything we do and we are guided by our 3 core values:

our 3 values

Why should you join?

  • Have your voice heard and make change
  • Join a community with shared experiences
  • Receive training
  • Attend exciting events
  • Help recruit Young Epilepsy staff
  • Boost your CV
  • Flexible contribution depending on how much free time you have
Being able to share my story on a platform, has helped me, knowing that my experience could support others. This personally gave me a sense of control over my epilepsy, at a time it felt out of my control.
Charlotte (Young Supporter)

Young Supporter Responsibilities

  • Attend quarterly online meetings
  • Contribute to our online community platform
  • Share experiences and opinions to help make decisions and create positive change
  • Get involved in content creation, campaigns, and fundraising
I am proud to be a Young Supporter as it allows me to have a voice and offer support to other epilepsy sufferers. I have been lucky dealing with my condition through my home and school life, but others are not always so lucky. My aim therefore, is to ensure the help is out there for those that need it and share my experiences and thoughts.
Bryn (Young Supporter)

Article 12

We strongly believe in Article 12 of the UN Conventions of the Rights of a Child which states:

"Children have the right to give their opinions freely on issues that affect them. Adults should listen and take children seriously."

These values and beliefs drive us to listen to and act upon the unique experiences of children and young people with epilepsy.
