1. Go out with people you trust. Stay with your friends. Knowing they know about your epilepsy will put your mind at ease. Also make sure you’re with someone who knows about your epilepsy and what to do if you have a seizure.
2. Take your meds with you and take them at the same time as normal.
3. Take a pair of sunnies with you. If the lights get too much, know you can just walk out.
4. Don’t be afraid to say to your friends that you need a break, take a breather from dancing, find somewhere to sit and go outside every now and then to get some fresh air. Ask to go to the medical room for some time out if you need it.
5. Be confident in your condition and don’t let others judge.
6. Know your limitations with alcohol and keep hydrated – before, after and during the night.
7. Do what you’re comfortable with and be in control at all times. Don’t feel pressured into doing anything you feel uncomfortable with, you know your body and your limits best.
8. It's not always the best idea to take your passport out with you, and we know not everyone has a driving license. Head to the Pass Scheme website to get your new form of ID, perfect for a night out.
9. Have fun!
